An automatic clusterer groups articles from the outlets we follow into one story when they report the same event. Each article counts once, however many feeds carried it.

Before a story is published, an AI editor (a language model) proposes a neutral name, a dek naming the parties involved and a 2–4 sentence summary in which every sentence cites the reports it rests on. Rules then reject names with quotation marks, calls to action or one speaker's claim, and remove articles about another event or another state. A story that fails stays unpublished (not indexed, not on the front page).

A story is published only with at least 3 articles from at least 2 named outlets (at most 15 a day), and only when at least 40% of its headlines name a party, a leader or a political subject.

Every number is a count of articles we hold — no polls, no estimates. The headline trend is a rule on article timing.
