How to find your current MLA in Tamil Nadu
Direct answer
Find your Assembly constituency, then check that seat in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly’s current member directory. A past election victory alone does not establish the current MLA: a vacancy or later by-election may have changed the position.
A TamilTick Editorial Desk guide prepared with AI assistance. Sources and verification limits are listed below. This is not an individually reported field dispatch.
Identify the Assembly seat first
A neighbourhood, district or postcode is not necessarily an Assembly constituency. Different streets in one city can belong to different seats. Knowing that you live in Chennai is therefore not enough to identify one MLA.
If you find your own entry in the ECI electoral-roll search, note the Assembly constituency name and number. You do not need to enter personal electoral-roll information on TamilTick; use the official service itself.

Check the current member directory
Open the Members section for the current Assembly on the Tamil Nadu Assembly website and match the constituency. Check that you have not opened a former Assembly’s directory or an old saved contact list.
Match the member’s name, constituency and Assembly term. If a directory and a newer vacancy notice differ, establish the dates and check any subsequent by-election result before treating the position as settled.

Separate an election winner from a current member
The 2026 general-election record establishes who won that election. The seat may subsequently have become vacant, and a later by-election may have elected another member. “2026 winner” and “current MLA” are separate facts to check.
When opening a result, match the state, year and Assembly constituency number. A parliamentary election elects an MP; its winner should not be described as the MLA.

Use a seat profile with its evidence
A TamilTick constituency page brings the election record and source notes together. A count of news headlines naming the seat is a different measure from the election result. When citing a consequential electoral fact, link its original official record too.
A new by-election result may not yet be in our local data. “Result not recorded” does not establish either a defeat or a continuing vacancy. Keep that gap explicit and check the current Assembly record.

Frequently asked questions
Can my address identify the constituency?
The Assembly constituency name and number in your electoral-roll entry help. A city name or postcode alone is insufficient.

Where can I find an MLA’s contact details?
Use contact details published in the current Assembly member directory. Do not treat an old campaign number as an official current contact.
What if news says the seat has no member?
Compare the Assembly’s vacancy record with newer ECI notices. The previous general-election winner does not settle that later change.
