How Vijay's Dharapuram rally became 99 YouTube videos in 130 minutes

In the newest 200 Tamil Nadu YouTube items available to TamilTick on 30 September, 99 mentioned Vijay. Together they had 230,296 observed views across 18 media channels. This is a measurement of media amplification around Dharapuram. The figures are cumulative video counters, not unique viewers, voter support or 99 separate speeches.

TamilTick's live feed returns the newest 200 YouTube items in its Tamil Nadu lens. At 14:15 IST, that sample stretched from 11:07 to 13:17, a span of 130 minutes, because Tamil news channels were publishing at high speed around Vijay's Dharapuram campaign appearance.

Vijay appeared in 99 of those 200 videos. View counters were known for 95 of the 99 and summed to 230,296 at observation time. Eighteen distinct media channels carried at least one matching video.

What the number is

230,296 is the sum of observed video view counters when TamilTick collected the sample. It is not 230,296 unique people: one person can watch several clips, and the counters continue to change.

Comparison

Vijay led the same-sample comparison by a wide margin

The nearest leader by video count was M. K. Stalin with four videos. Vijay therefore appeared in 24.8 times as many uploads in this specific slice. On observed view counters the comparison was 230,296 to 3,014, a 76.4-to-one gap.

The 76.4-to-one ratio is not a durable audience estimate. It records a live campaign event that temporarily occupied the Tamil political video cycle while the other leaders had no event with comparable media volume.

This was not a feed containing 99 different Vijay speeches. It was a media multiplication event centred on Dharapuram: advance clips, arrival footage, crowd shots, live streams, short extracts, reactions and repeated cuts from the same Dharapuram campaign stop.

A disclosed title-keyword pass found 51 videos using speech, rally or campaign language and 32 using crowd or arrival language. Those buckets overlap and describe how publishers framed the upload; they do not claim 51 distinct speeches or 32 independently verified crowds.

Distribution pattern

Eighteen publishers repeatedly repackaged one campaign moment into breaking-news uploads, live streams and short clips. The breadth of that distribution mattered more than any single viral upload.

Distribution

Eighteen Tamil media channels carried the coverage

NewsTamil 24X7 published the most matching videos, while Polimer News held the largest observed view total. Thanthi TV, News18 Tamil Nadu, Puthiya Thalaimurai and Sun News each added a separate audience surface. No single channel supplied even one-third of the observed views.

Reading the signal

What observed views say about Vijay's reach

During this campaign burst, Vijay led the Tamil political YouTube publishing cycle by upload volume, source breadth and observed view counters.

The data cannot turn that attention into a vote estimate or separate supporters, opponents, repeat viewers and accidental viewers. A longer-term comparison needs fixed 24-hour and seven-day windows with repeated view-count observations after the campaign-day spike settles.

Tamil media distributed 99 Vijay-tagged YouTube products during one campaign burst. The count does not mean Vijay gave 99 speeches.

How this was measured

  • Corpus: the newest 200 YouTube items returned by TamilTick's Tamil Nadu live-feed lens at 14:15 IST on 30 September 2026. Their publication times ran from 11:07 to 13:17 IST.
  • Leader matching: deterministic TamilTick taxonomy tags over the collected video metadata. Vijay matched 99 items; the comparison table uses the same tagging and same bounded sample for every leader.
  • Observed views: the YouTube view counter carried by the feed at collection time. Counters were known for 95 of Vijay's 99 videos; unknown values were not treated as zero.
  • Format buckets: case-insensitive title matches for disclosed speech/campaign and crowd/arrival vocabulary. Buckets overlap and are descriptive, not semantic AI labels.
  • A compact machine-readable receipt is published with the article so the figures remain auditable after the live feed changes.

What these numbers cannot tell you

  • This is a 130-minute burst sample, not a full-day, campaign-to-date or lifetime ranking. TamilTick observed 2,784 Tamil Nadu YouTube videos in the surrounding 24 hours; the public feed exposes only the newest 200.
  • Observed views are cumulative video counters at one moment, not unique viewers, incremental views earned inside the window or final lifetime totals.
  • A single person can watch several videos. Summing video counters therefore measures distributed media exposure, not deduplicated audience reach.
  • Several uploads cover the same Dharapuram event. Video count measures media output and amplification, not the number of distinct speeches or events.
  • Leader tags can overlap: one comparison video may mention Vijay, Stalin and EPS. Leader rows should not be added into a share-of-total calculation.
  • Volume is not sentiment or support. Critical, neutral and favourable videos all count when they match the leader tag.
