Methodology
Collection
We read political reporting on Tamil Nadu as it is published: from 40 monitored YouTube channels and from the news outlets our data provider carries. Headlines stay in their original language and link to the outlet that published them; we show a short excerpt at most, never the full article.
Entity matching
Every headline and video title is matched against our own register of leaders, parties, constituencies, districts and issues, by their names in English and in the region's language. Summaries and video descriptions are not read. Namesakes are filtered out: a TV channel or a court named after a person or a city does not count for them. A named constituency also counts for its district.
De-duplication
A count is the number of distinct reports that name an entity in the stated window. Copies count once: the same headline carried by several feeds, the same article under a new link, the same channel re-uploading the same title on the same day. Headline round-ups name no one. Next to every number we show its evidence: how many articles and outlets, and when the newest was published.
Limitations
Coverage is not support: a leader named in many reports is in the news, and that says nothing about votes. Nothing on this site is an opinion poll or an election forecast, and anything estimated by a model (such as tone) is labelled as modelled. Outlets and channels we do not read are not counted; when a source goes quiet, the page says the window is partial.

Editorial policy
TamilTick is a data desk, not a newsroom. We do not report stories ourselves, write opinion, or endorse any party, leader or candidate. What we publish is counted from other outlets' reporting, and every headline links to the outlet that published it.
Story pages are compiled automatically. A story is published only with at least 3 articles from at least 2 named outlets (at most 15 a day). Its name, dek and summary are proposed by an AI editor (a language model) and checked by rules before publication; the page says so, and every summary sentence cites the reports it rests on.
Names stay neutral: no quotation marks, no calls to action, no one speaker's claim as a story's name. Numbers are counts of reports in a stated window, never polls or forecasts; anything a model estimates, such as tone, is labelled as modelled.
Corrections
What we correct
A wrong name, number, date or link; a report matched to the wrong leader, party, seat or issue; a story page that groups reports about different events; a summary sentence its cited reports do not support. A disagreement with what an outlet reported belongs with that outlet: we link to its reporting, we do not rewrite it.
How fast
We aim to review every report within two working days, and to fix a confirmed error the same day.
Where the note appears
On the page that carried the error, as a dated correction note saying what changed. We do not quietly edit a published page.
